Enhanced Visibility: Tracking Gemini's Impact in Google Meet Reports

Google Workspace administrators are constantly looking for ways to understand how their organisation utilises new technologies and to measure the return on investment for innovative tools. A significant enhancement for AI-driven insights has recently rolled out, offering clearer visibility into how Gemini's capabilities are being adopted within Google Meet.
This latest update allows administrators to access specific usage metrics for Gemini within the existing Gemini reports dashboard, found in the "Gemini usage per interaction" section of the Admin Console. This means you can now observe how often and by how many individuals the AI features embedded in Google Meet are being actively engaged.
Previously, understanding the true extent of AI feature adoption in communication tools could be challenging. This new reporting capability directly addresses that need, providing tangible data points for administrators. Organisations can now accurately assess the value being derived from AI features, which is vital for strategic planning, resource allocation, and identifying potential areas for further user training.
The reports now include two primary metrics specifically for Gemini's use in Google Meet:
These metrics offer a comprehensive view, allowing administrators to distinguish between overall feature activation and the breadth of user engagement. For instance, high usage by a small number of users might suggest a need to promote features more widely, whilst broad user numbers could indicate successful integration into daily workflows.
Beyond just Gemini-specific insights, this update also contributes to greater accuracy in the overall active usage metrics for Google Meet. Administrators may observe revised figures for 28-day active users and general Meet usage, as the reporting system now captures this AI-driven interaction with enhanced precision. This provides a more holistic and reliable picture of your organisation's video conferencing habits.
For administrators, there is no specific action required to enable this reporting. The data will automatically populate within your Gemini reports dashboard. This feature is readily available for both Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains.
The enhanced Gemini reporting for Google Meet is accessible to a wide range of Google Workspace editions, including Business Starter, Standard, and Plus; Enterprise Starter, Standard, and Plus; Essentials Starter, Enterprise Essentials, and Enterprise Essentials Plus; Frontline Starter, Standard, Plus; and Individual. Additionally, it is available for Google AI Pro and Ultra, the Google AI Ultra for Business add-on, and the Google AI Pro for Education add-on.
This development marks a significant step forward in providing Google Workspace administrators with the necessary tools to monitor and manage the adoption of AI technologies effectively within their digital environments. Gaining insight into how users interact with AI features like Gemini in Meet empowers organisations to optimise their use of these powerful capabilities.
